w_t1
Curious if this really works, I've seen posts where people refer to it, but none where folks evaluated the process. Will take my hi-8 tapes through canon mini-dv to convert to digital and editing on PC, have firewire, etc. Looks pretty simple in the camcorder handbook, wondering if the quality is any different than in the $200-500 range of stand-alone A-D converter boxes. New cam to try out will be here next week. Thanks, I'm an amateur at video. Tom
h._p.
I've frequently copied Hi-8 to DV tape using a Sony DV recorder and the results have always been good. I imagine all this does is skip the write to tape and send the signal out on the Firewire lead. Certainly sounds worth trying if you have the facility.
