Sandy Vongries
Friday night I was photographing the local charity dinner theatre, and a neighbor told me that there were a lot of Elk on a nearby property. Saturday afternoon was a bit gray, but I reconnoitred and found a small herd. Typically they are out of cover in late afternoon. These at some distance, 400 yards or so on private property, so shooting from the roadside. Tripod, Gimbal, Nikkor 600 5.6 on the D 750. My wife was spotting with binoculars, which was very handy since I was shooting through gaps in the trees. I had forgot my remote control, so these are a mix of snapping the shutter and using the self timer.
