A comparison of V700 and 4990 Epson flatbed scanners

excellent French online magazine for high-resolution photography,

has posted <a

review of the Epson V700 scanner</a>, comparing a sample 6x6 scan

with one made on 4990 last year. They seem to be very pleased with

the new scanner, stating better moire control due to better optics,

improved DMax over 4990 (even though both claim to have DMax of

4.0), and better resolution (mostly due to the new optical system

rather than due to raw dpi).</p>

 

<p>Unfortunately, I could not find a good online translation tool

for the very long page, so I can't provide a link to a translated

version.</p>

Thanks for the link. In short it conclude that if you own 4990 you don't need to change (except if you are doing a lot of 35mm) It would be better to wait for the next model in this series of scanners from Epson.
