Seitz 160Mpixel scanning camera that takes Linhof Lenses.
There is also a 470Mpixel Roundshot (which makes my 28/220 look like a toy)

More info on the Seitz website
A bit large though - but that lets it go upto ISO 10,000

spotted by luminous-landscape
michaelging
I think it would make a great street photography camera,if it came in Black.
Spearhead
Does it have a flip-out LCD? Looks great for hip shots. Music and Portraits Blog: Life in Portugal

jay_miao1
hmmm, I dont see the strap eyelets on both sides ... wondering how long one can walk with it without a shoulder strap ... oh yeah, use a camera bag, of course, it gotta be a really BIG good one for that. g_lindzey
Hand held with a maximum shutter speed of half a second???? Is that 6x17 cm or 6x17 inches. The camera is almost 20 inches wide. That seems to me to be a lot larger than required.
robert lee
"Hand held with a maximum shutter speed of half a second?" That's just the time needed to shuttle the sensor from one side to another. I believe the stated actual minimum exposure time per pixel is something like 1/20000sec. I just checked out their web site. They've actually have panos of people surfing. Pretty awesome for a scanning back! Hmmm.. I'd bet you could get some pretty interesting effects photographing something that traverses the imaging frame in that same 1/2 sec.
pete_andrews10
"takes Linhof Lenses" Linhof don't, and have never, made lenses. They simply badged those from Rodenstock and Schneider.
robert x
I want one. I may wait unitl the price drops down to twenty thousand euros though. Heh heh. I like Robert's idea - a wave would look pretty good maybe - I also like the idea of putting it on that 1/20,000 setting and then taking it for a bungee jump or something.......... :o)
paul_chan4
You'd keep the SWAT squad pretty busy if you lug that monster around on the streets.
donald_ingram1
I think it would produce jaw dropping portraits :-( ) It's a shame the did not make a small portable lower cost digital version of the 28/220, which is about the same size as a German WWII stick grenade, with a 4000 pixel linear CCD. Maybe next Photokina. My 9950F scanner now has banding problems :-( It takes various lenses including Linhof's 6x17 Technorama lenses. Okay, Linhof mounts containing Schneider LF lenses, but I would have thought it's valid to say 'Linhof ' lenses, just as 'Hasselblad' lenses are made by Zeiss or Fuji.

robert x
30,000 euros and it doesn't even have a built in flash......
ilkka
It is a great idea, coupled with a Linhof 6x17 for those images that need fast shutter speed. But it is too big, and a tad too expensive. I wonder when Epson will make a scanning back or camera, using their scanner technology. Doesn't have to be 160 Mp. 40 or 60 would be fine. harvey_edelstein1
It will probably just fit into a Billingham 550 bag.
g_lindzey
Yes, that one shot looks a lot like the guy is sightin a shoulder fired missle. Ought to give security guards nightmares.
geoff_edwards
I can't help thinking that with these panoramic cameras that the picture is just being cropped down. My 612 produced a photo of a river panoramic where you can see the fish as well as detail a 100 metres away!
