rod_klukas
Update from ARCA-SWISS - 5x7 format Jean-Pierre Pieve, our new managing director as of December 2021, has announced the return of ARCA-SWISS 5x7 formats. As of today, any F-line or M-Line camera may be ordered in 5x7 format. Remember, MicroOrbix tilt must be ordered at time of purchase of camera to ensure its installation. Also announced and available to order are 171 series wide angle leather bag bellows. I hope this clears up any confusion. Contact your dealer or myself if you have questions. Glenn McCreery
I would be curious to know what demand there is for a 5x7 view camera these days? I own an old 5x7 Gundlach view camera that I once used occasionally with a 4x5 reducing back, since I owned a 4x5 enlarger and 4x5 film was readily available, but not 5x7. Now the camera makes a nice display item, but has not been used since the previous century. Edited April 3, 2022 by Glenn McCreery
PapaTango
5x7" was once the de facto standard for HABS/HAER/HALS/CEQA for production of archival photos to be lodged in the Library of Congress. 4x5" is currently common--and some works have historically and present executed in 8x10". All "in-house" photographers at the NPS Heritage Documentation Program use this medium. https://www.nps.gov/hdp/standards/PhotoGuidelines.pdf 5x7" is also a great portrait format. Looks like Ilford is also running out new and other films in this size. If you have ever hauled an 8x10" rig around in the field--you know what a blessing 5x7 is! 1 "I See Things..." glen_h
This is reminding me that I posted this to the large format forum some time ago: Large Format Luxury Cameras are Here! It seems that I am on the Freestyle mailing list, and so get such mail. 1 -- glen
25asa
I'd love to get a 5x7 view camera, but the pricing for a new one is almost as much as an 8x10, and so much higher then 4x5. I don't think you'd save that much weight either with such a camera over 8x10.
robertgiles
I don't know if this is ok to say but I have a 5x7 and a 8x10 that I would trade for a Leica IIIf if it is ok to do and you are interested. The 8x10 has original wooden tripod and various frames. Both cameras have lens and bellows are in good shape.
