frank_gross
Every now & then when I switch on the camera the screen shows an old 2008 date / time. I set to the current date / tme and it'll happen again; not every time though. What do you think the problem is?
The camera is not very old maybe about 1.5 years so it seems unlikely to be the button battery?
picturesque
But it could be. I had a 5D that did the same thing. It was only months old. I changed the battery and it was fine.

frank_gross
OK thanks I'll try a replacement.
Funny though, I had a 5D (original) for years & years without this happening
mbkissel
Frank, make sure there is no corrosion on the button cell battery. Check the contacts in the camera as well. Even naturally occurring oils from your fingers can cause the battery to corrode. It's best to handle a new battery while wearing rubber gloves.
