wendell_kelly
I use the Summicron C 40mm but finding screw in filters and lens hoods is something of a struggle.
I recently found (new to me, at least) a Chinese eBay vendor who offers an adaptor to allow 39mm lens to (properly) mount on Leica C lenses.
The vendor is "sm-camera".
I bought several of the adaptors and can report that they are metal (not plastic), well made, nicely finished and do what they are expected to do.

Troll
What in the world was Leica thinking, when they specified the 5.5 series filters? Absurd! Out of their minds!
james_elwing
All of those series filters were dippy. A generation of lenses including the earlier 135/2.8 Elmarit M were made exclusive, exclusive of common sense.
christer_medin1
I had a Summicron-C 40 on my M8, and found an adapter+lens hood from "Heavystar" on ebay. Very affordable, and had great fit and finish.
