rick_drawbridge
is that XTOL? No, it's Gordon Hutching's formula "PMK Pyro", in this case mixed by the Bergger company. It's a staining developer based on Pyrogallol.

rick_drawbridge
Why would one use this developper instead of a more commun one? Thank you. The pyro-based developers are not really uncommon; several members of this forum are using them on a regular basis. Without getting into the "Which is the best developer?" debate, many of us find that we get optimum sharpness and a very full tonal range, using staining developers. There's plenty of information available if you search the internet.

Jean-Claude
jean_claude_watry said: Nice photograph! Could you supply details of camera, lens, film, developer etc. with your posts? I started to clean up last week and through 99% of my negatives away, including the sheets where I ordered them. So I can't answer your request, sorry. I own a few film cameras. I guess it was the Nikon 801s (N8008 in the US) with the 50mm AFD 1.8 lens. The film is AGFA APX 100 that's for sure. Since I usually used STUDIONAL, the dilution is 1+15, 20°, 4 minutes in a JOBO drum. I never presoaked my films nor did I reduce the devopping times by 15% as recommanded for drums. The negatives are contrasty because I use a diffuse enlarger, DURST 805 multigraph. Fabulous machine...! Bon weekend!
Mike Gammill
For the 12th- an image from my archives. Film was likely Fujicolor C41 of some kind. Camera was probably either a Minolta SRT 201 or XD-5. My dad standing in front of family camera shop
Bill Bowes
A bit for the Pyro developers. Here is a frame of Ultrafine Xtreme 400 material (120) developed in PyrocatHD.This staining formulation is available from several vendors. Camera was an Agfa Isolette 2 with an Epson V600 scanner.
