20D & Sunpak 120J and E-TTL or E-TTL2?

I was wondering if the Sunpak TTL module for the 120J works with E-TTL in the 10D or E-

TTL2 on the 20D. I tried to get that info from the Tocad site but it's not very informative.

Anyways, I like my 120J but haven't used it through my 10D or 20D preferring to use my

550EX. Does anyone know if the E-TTL features work on these DSLR's? Many thanks.

Not unless they just recently updated the TTL module. As far as I know, Sunpak doesn't have any E-TTL (2) capable flash units. But autoflash is always an option with the 120J. Saves you the cost of the TTL module and flash exposures are very easily predictable. There are lots of complaints with E-TTL flash metering on the 10D. E-TTL II on the 20D is supposed to be more reliable though.

I use a Sunpak 555 in auto mode on a DRebel with very good results.

I use the 120J without TTL with my 10D. The great thing about digital is that the histogram immediately tells you how your exposure is, so I just use it in manual and move the power level back and forth depending on distance. Checking the histogram lets me know if I've lost track of my adjustments.

Here's an example, shot with the reflector off (bare bulb), using manual exposure on the 10D and manual setting on the 120J. A little more shadow than I'd like, but otherwise just fine.
