20D crop factor and lens DOF

Discussion in 'Canon EOS' started by preston_merchant, May 22, 2005.

  1. So I put a 24 mm lens on my 20D. With the 1.6x crop factor, the view
I get now corresponds to that of a 38.4 mm lens in 35 mm format.
Question--are the lens' depth of field scales affected by the crop
factor? In other words, when placed on the camera with a 1.6x crop
factor, does my 24 mm lens now have the depth of field scale of a 38
mm lens? Or does it retain its 24 mm scale?
