bill_w2
I just bought 2 white lightning ultra 600's. I know little about, and wondered what I should buy to make it a complette studio? Should I mix 800's & 1600's? Or stay w/600's? Anyone have a spare white lightning or 2 want to sell? I was told that these 2 I bought would be great for fill and hair lights. thanx for all help and advise in advance. peace!
nathan_stiles
Depending on your set up: room, modifiers, what you are shooting-- you can probably use those as a key light also. I think the 600's are about 400 real watts? I've shoot many a picture w/ my key turned down to 200 jules. Before buying more lights, I'd buy lighting modifiers. Man, there is a world out there of them :) I'm constantly wanting something new to play w/. My current "want list-- but not enough need to buy" is a Mola Setti dish. I'd start w/ two umbrellas (assuming portrait work) and a medium softbox, and a 7" reflector w/ a few grids (maybe start w/ a 20^ grid). If you are doing product/still life: forget the umbrellas, and get a small, and extra small softbox (or snoot) to mix it up. If you want better advice, give more information as to what you will be shooting.
