ccrevasse
My 1Ds2 developed vertical banding, so I sent it to Canon for repair. They returned it to me with this description of the service: "Replaced pcbassy.A2.check.clean." This was meaningless to me, so I emailed Canon for more detail. Canon responded, "The camera was cleaned, checked, and the PC Assembly was replaced." Does anyone know what the "PC Assembly" is that was replaced in my camera? Thanks. HenryUK
For the last 25 years cameras have contained flexible printed circuit boards on which the electronic components are mounted. These are known by the acronym PCB. There are usually several in an SLR, each with its own function, some simple like the LCD display, and some complex like digital signal processing. PCBAssy.A2 sounds like an analogue board to me.I can't find it in the 1Ds parts list and I don't have a 1DsII parts list to refer to. beauh44
PCB = Printed Circuit Board, I believe. Sort of the "motherboard" of the camera.
alfonso_bresciani1
They replaced mine on a 20d body. It was drizzling and I guess It got wet. I had the same banding with vertical straight black lines as yours...I guess. Did yours get wet? I thought the 1Ds2 it's all sealed (?)
