derek_simpson
On first use of Lexar 80X 2GB card in a recently acquired 1DMkII I've run into a problem - on another site I find mention of similar so I'm asking if others are having problems. (Lexar are plodding along from post to post being as helpful as they can be without being much help if that's not too Irish [i am - can't help that]). Others are reporting total non-recording of images even though they've reviewed and seen 'em on the LCD screen. In my case I have runs where evry few JPEGs are a fraction of a frame with the rest a solid colour. Tonight I was experimenting with settings and within ten photographs on the LEXAR 80X I'd produced another - opening in Photoshop got a message : "Could not complete your request because a JPEG Marker segment length is too short (the file may be truncated or incomplete) " I have not seen this message before in almost two years of digital capture using the 1D and , among others, Lexar 256Mb cards. Anyone shed any light ?
rich_weiss
Canon 1DMkII is not set up to take advantage of WA (write acceleration cards) - I have not had a problem, but I am using 1 G 80x WA cards myself without incident. I was made aware of the problem by a NY dealer. It has to do with the way the camera processes, and WA cards skip some steps. The problem is sporadic, and Canon USA is aware of the problem, but Canon does not claim to be compatible with WA like Nikon does. from what I have heard from Canon, if you are experiencing this problem, switch cards. That is all I know. Good luck
astcell
Lexar is aware of it too and you can get defective cards replaced. You need to contact Lexar with the numbers on your card.
robin_sibson1
I have been using the Lexar 80x 2GB card in my 20D with no problem. It sounds like a puzzling defect. If the problem is that of incompatibility between the -1DII and WA, then it is not easy to see why it should depend on the individual card, unless the cards have been modified silently from one batch to another. butch_welch
I have been using the 2GB 80X WA in my 1Ds mark II with no problems. I did have a problem when I downloaded the firmware upgrade to the camera on that card, the next batch of shots did not save to the card. I reformatted the card in the camera and it has worked fine since
derek_simpson
Lexar is now making "replacement" noises - but is this card defective or is it as it ought to be and there is a mis-match problem ? I am nervous about the replacement being just the same and an untrustworthy card is totally useless when you (sorry - it)lose(s) the picture of the winning goal. bob_sincick
I have been using the 2GB 80X WA in my 1D mark II with no problems (5000+ photos, so far). I did read that there was an early version and later version (mine seems to be in the "later" catagory.
derek_simpson
Bob - have you upgraded to the new firmware produced around new year ? There is some indication that it might be implicated if the folk who have reloaded the previous version are to be believed.
