don_boyd3
Here's a few slides of the high surf pounding the Northeastern Japanese coast after a moderate typhoon in 1966. See comments for description and equipment used. These slides are 40+ years old and are a mix of Ektachrome, Kodachrome, and Fujichrome. Hope it interests you. Farkle-Mpls
Thanks for sharing these, Don. The technical and historic detail adds a lot to the experience. I'd be interested in which film was which, although I'd guess the magenta cast one was Ektachrome. Don't know Fujichrome well enough to differentiate it from Kodachrome. don_boyd3
I've had to re-mount a few of the slides due to the glue drying out over the years so I can't really say which is which.
starvy
the typhoon seems really moderate?
don_boyd3
I didn't communicate well. These slides were shot 4-5 days after the typhoon so effects were significantly diminished. They were not taken during the typhoon. I remember there was quite a bit of property damage, rice crops destroyed by high winds and small deep-water craft smashed into docks, etc. I don't remember any casualties so I characterized it as moderate. During the early 60's it was very common for several hundred Japanese people to be killed during a strong typhoon, storm surge, wind blown debris, etc.
jb17kx
I like the ones that show the farmers at work - scenes long gone today. That would be E-4 Ektachrome and Fujichrome and K-12 Kodachrome, wouldn't it?
