14-24mm f/2.8 Zoom Ring lock-up

<p>This is a first for me. The zoom ring on my 14-24 is locked up. Won't budge. The focus ring works fine. It's out of warranty and I've contacted the seller and a Nikon repair man in the area. The lens hasn't been exposed to moisture and has not been dropped or abused. I have no explanation. Any ideas?</p>

<p>Because of the nature of this lens, I would suggest hat you send this lens directly to Nikon for service. They will provide a free estimate and return it to you at n/c should you decide not to repair it with them.</p>

<p>When you say you contacted the seller, did you buy it new or used?</p>

<p>If the lens was bought used, then your: " <em>has not been dropped or abused</em> " - could be your wishful thinking ?</p>
