Can't help but admire the technology even though I don't want one.
Greg M
I saw this this morning and can't imagine what it will cost. Probably not as much as I think, but wow, that is huge. I would guess this size card has to be a bigger breakthrough for movie shooters. I'm not sure I would ever want to keep all my eggs (or images) in one basket like that.
eric_arnold
the 63G sandisk extreme is $600+ on amazon, so this card will probably retail for at least $1000, or more than the cost of a Nikon D90. other than for video apps, this is more card than most of us need or want.
bill_tuthill
Exactly. Until I get a BluRay burner, 4.7 GB is my DVD limit, so I don't need larger than 4 GB. Buying for the future, 32 GB is slightly too large for single-sided BluRay. One alarming trend in the other direction is the number of recent cameras that take micro SD cards! Isn't SD already small enough? Jeesh.
starvy
i guess those 24mp sensors would be needing the bigger card sizes and within a few years, we might well see even larger sized cards.
dmanthree
Bill,
I've made the move to a BluRay burner, and have found that if you shop around, the price per GB is near, or lower than DVDs. And you won't need to burn nearly as many discs, of course. Much easier. The downside, of course, is that if you lose a single disc, you lose lots more pix.
bill_tuthill
Did you buy the Pioneer or the LG model, David? I never had much luck with double-sided DVD (lots of coasters, though!) so double-sided BluRay is probably a non-starter.
eric_arnold
you know what would suck?

if you shot the next "citizen kane" on a 128gig card and it got a bent pin or something and became unusable--with all your footage on it. chances are, you'd be yelling something more colorful than "rosebud"!
