w_t1
I'm a relatively new digital person, apologies if this is a basic question. The stock epson color ink cartridge that came with my 1280 purchased this summer ran out, and I replaced with the re-fillable cartridge and ink from MIS (inksupply.com). These are the ones that I refilled from the individual ink bottles. (Not the $5 chinese pre-filled versions) I compared a test print from the new inks with one done with the stock cartridge, same pic, and they are different. The new pic has a bit of a purple tinge to it. I did the cleaning cycles and nozzle check as recommended, was fine. I was very careful in triple-checking the color locations vs the bottle, am sure I got that right. I didn't find anything on the inksupply web site. I've read about profiles, but am just using the driver that came with my 1280. Anyone have any ideas?
paul -
Profiles are designed for specific paper/ink/printer combinations. I would try the <a href="http://www.inksupply.com/profiles.cfm">profiles on the inksupply.com website.</a>
kaiyen
The inks from MIS are going to be a tad bit different. Since epson assumes that X amount of cyan + Y amount of magenta == color Z using their inks, that combination with the MIS inks will likely produce slightly different colors. So, to echo the previous post, you will need to use a profile to get things lined up again. allan
don_cooper
I've found that an adjustment of +8 cyan in the Epson driver works well with Epson HW matte paper. More difficult to balance with glossy or luster papers. You might want to get a custom profile.
w_t1
I used the profiles on the MIS site . After discovering profiles dont work in Psp8 or ps elements 3, i downloaded a copy of Qimage. Well, the profiles made the tint worse, but when i print from Qimage with Printer ICC set to OFF, they are fine. Strange, but it works. thanks for the advice
kaiyen
The reason why it works with the printer ICC to off in Qimage is because, otherwise, you're applying the profile twice. Qimage applies the profile when you hit print, then the print driver applies it again if it's listed there. allan
w_t1
Allan, thanks for the clarification. I think I will invest in a good book that deals with printing only.
