jacques_augustowski1
Hi, I bought a 12" Kodak Commercial Ektar, I am in doubt about the retaining ring. It has a flange on both sides one is about 1/16" tall and the other about 1/4". Which one goes towards the lens and does it go through the lens board or it sits at the face of the lens board. Thanks, Jacques
john_kasaian1
Jacques, I'm guessing the holes for the wood screws aren't counter sunk? Also, is your Commercial Ektar mounted in a Universal or Acme shutter? Try taping the flange to the lensboard. If you screw the flange firmly onto the rear of the lens with the 1/16" side toward the shutter, do all the levers work smoothly or do they bind up on the lensboard? If everything works well, countersink the screw holes on the flange accordingly and you've got it. If not, try it with the 1/4" side toward the lens. FWIW Commercial Ektars are superb lenses: enjoy!------Cheers!
david_clark4
Hi Jacques, the 1/4 rim goes towards the lens, at least on mine. Best, David
paul moshay
Jacques, The 1/4 inch side goes through the lensboard and the lens is screwed up to the 1/16 inch flange. Do not screw the flange to the board first, only after you orient the assembly. The screw holes are to fasten the whole assembly to the lensboard after you screw the lens into the flange to get the proper orentation of the shutter the way you like it.
