10D shutter trouble

I had used 10D for about a year now and I have lost count how many

times I had hit the shutter.

 

I had shutter trouble yesterday after shooting about 2000 shots. The

shutter doesn't fire and even when I set it on bulb mode, I can't

see the shutter firing and there is no movent at all. I guess the

shutter is dead.

 

I need to send it for repair and I would like to know how much does

it cost. Do you guys have the same problem before?

 

Also what is the normal life span of a shutter box?

The shutter on the 10D is said to be good for 30000 to 50000 exposures, and to cost $200 to $300 to replace.

You took 2000 pictures in one day? Dang, editing must be a bitch! I think you bought the

wrong body if you regularly do that. You need a 1 series DSLR and pronto.

Yes, I see a 1D mark II in your future... It's smiling!

There's no telling, it's a "wear" item. Could last you 60k or 25k. Some people have posted their 1DMKKII shutter failing after 60k, others have shot more than 150k and still going strong.

 

It's something that can be easily replaced by the factory. If you shoot 2k pictures a day you may to do it more often than most of us...
