cmonkey
The 10 pin Nikon digital release for my D200 is so expensive! Doesanyone else have a more affordable supplier for the simple operationof triggering the camera? My D50 used a $14 IR remote. Thanks! lilly_w
Nikon MC-30 will do the trick. Not much to go wrong w/ them so 'used' might be the way to go.
kyber
Fantastic timing - just got a D200 and I was wondering the same thing myself. Have now ordered a MC 30 clone, that is supposed to work on the D200, from ebay.
bob_s__n.e._mass_
Do you mind telling us how much you paid for it? Thanks- Bob
Michael R Freeman
You can buy the clone for about $16, shipping included to USA addresses, from a couple of eBay vendors (just do a search for "Nikon MC-30" and they will pop up in the results). I have never used the clones. The cheap ones I have seen do not thread into the 10 pin socket like the MC-30, but just push in. New MC-30's seem to be as scarce as hens teeth lately. Fortunately I got mine used via eBay (for an F100) for a very good price a year ago. The prices for the 10 pin Nikon remotes, particularly if all you want to do is trip the shutter, are a bit ridiculous. All you really need is a two pin switch to trip the shutter (the 2 pin MC-12A/B can be used with a MC-25 adapter). That's why the clones are so cheap - I suspect they are just a simple 2 pin switch with a 10 pin plug.
always_wanderlust
Using the clones here. Works fine and perfect.
leicaglow
I really like the IR control for the D50 too. I don't know why they didn't offer that for the D200, unless it was to get people to buy a more expensive triggering system.
