Welcome Kamol,

Many of us handle English(our native language) no better than you do. Most of us are limited to our native language, while you speak three languages. It is the majority of us who have the "limited education", not you.

Khun Kamol (I hope I guessed it right),

I don't think apologies are necessary for your English (one can sense English is not your native language by your posts). I think allowances can be (or should I say, should be) made in cases similar to yours to improve exchange of information/understanding. Afterall, I believe, lists such as this were created to promote appreciation of photography (and, of course, leica). Going by what Rodney King said, "Why can't we all just get along?"

I understand in Thailand, criticism is not freely given nor taken lightly (specially by the seniors). I am afraid such is not the nature of this list (although I would say this is one of the more "polite" and, more importantly, informative lists I've subscribed about Leica). My suggestion is to prepare yourself for "critisims" when posting and be selective which response to take seriously.

I sure hope you stay and participate in the discussions. You will learn to enjoy it as you get to know the "characters" better :-) (I sure have enjoyed/benefitted from the list thus far).

Happy snaps.

Hello Kamol, I am also from Thailand. Just came back from work. The traffic was

pretty bad and it was raining. Well, at least I got home in time to see my daugthers

before they went to bed...

I have started posting in this forum only a few days ago and found Leica crowds to be

very nice (just like us Thais!).

Kamol, Please do not feel that you need to be sorry (as you said) ..."for my education", or for your unfamiliarity with English.

This forum is about Leicas and photography - and all the ideas and questions that are related to those interests.

There are many folks who are highly educated (and whose English, no doubt, is flawless) who contribute little.

To me, the value of this forum is in the exchange of ideas and concerns. I welcome your participation, and hope you take part.

Best regards,

Kamol, there is no need to apologize for your English. There are many on this forum who were "educated" in English and still have trouble with the written word. Your postings are most welcome. The nature of the forum is, after all, photography - not English literature. Please stay and feel free to post your work. :-)

When I was in Thailand I was much too intimidated to try speaking Thai--I was fearful since it is a tonal language that I might mis-pronounce something and accidentally say something insulting or worse. There are many thousands of people born and raised in the USA who flat-out refuse to learn English (and our over-the-top-politically-correct government responds by spending millions of our tax money passing legislation requiring multilingual signage and schooling). Kamol, you are to be praised for making such a strong effort to write in English. Khap khun!

Although Thai language is a tonal language, it is not critical to speak to the exact tone. We Thai have never considered it insulting when any foreigner mis-pronounces something. Furthermore, we are too impressed when someone from far away find a way to learn our language. If you have a chance to be in Thailand again, please speak Thai. You will be warmly welcomed in every places you go.
