E6 & C-41 processing in Frankfurt , Germany

The trip of a life time (well for this photo buff truck driver) is

coming up in two weeks. Three weeks in the UK and Germany. We would

like to have our E6 and C-41 film developed before we fly out of

Germany from Frankfurt airport. Does anyone have a recomendation for

a quality lab that could handle 20-30 rolls of E6 and 20-30 rolls of

C-41 in a day or two at the most. I want good results but need to pay

full Pro level costs. Any help will be appreciated.

German photographers are extremely finicky, informed and excruciatingly accustomed to high quality; think of their Benzes, Beamers, Leicas, Zeiss, ... Rollei ...

So: the standard Department store (Kaufhof/Karstadt ...) photo processors in FRA are probably going to give you quality superior to most any US Pro labs.

And if you give your film to one of those near B+H size camera superstores on Kaiserstrasse, you will get even better service than in heaven.

So, do not worry and enjoy a well equipped and ready populace's hobby ...

Thanks Frank, I had heard simular comments about German quality processing but thought it would be a good idea to ask if there was one better then the next. As a camera collector as well as a film burner I will enjoy checking out these B&H sized photo stores you mention. Although I will probably only get to see one before the boss steers me towards something she would like to see LOL.

I'd be very cautious of department store and supermarket film handling. They outsource the actual D&P to large labs that can undergo huge quality changes. Large photo stores usually do the same with E6, and their least expensive C41 offer also makes your film go to such a lab. You must specifically ask for in-house development!
If you travel via Munich, I can offer part of a "photo service net": if you need high speed film or another special recording medium, and don't want to rely on friendly airport security, I can buy it for you and store it in the fridge until you arrive. You can also leave your films with me before you leave, and I'll bring them to a pro lab, pick them up, and send them to your home address. Please understand that I demand advance payment for the latter!. Price includes a tour of the less tourist-filled spots of Munich, however.

Try Martin Color in downtown Frankfurt, in the residential neighborhood near the train station (Hauptbahnhof). They are listed as a Kodak Q-lab, and offer E6 and C41, push / pull / cross developing. I used them a few weeks ago for a simple process, and they accommodated me just nicely. I remember paying about 4 - 5 euro per roll.

They're at Savignystrasse 34, 60325 Frankfurt am Main. Telephone 069/75 60 80 33.
also a website -- http://www.martincolor.de/index_2.html . click 'foto & prasentation' on the left, then 'filmentwicklung' for some info. good luck with the german!
