jim_simon5
As far as wide angle adapters for G2, is Canon the best way to go? How do the aftermarket adapters compare in quality and price - where is the best bang for the buck? Or do they all pretty much suck? Thanks, Jim
ed_olson
<p>I just received a Tiffen .75X wide converter from B&H. I use it with a <a href="http://www.lensmateonline.com/">Lensmate</a> adapter on a G3. Initial impression it has acceptable barrel distortion; significantly less than the Raynox equivalent. The Tiffen takes a 67 mm filter. The Raynox filter threads were recessed inside a sort of built in hood, making use of a polarizer impossible.</p> <p>For more information try the following:</p> <p><a href="http://kazutoku.cside21.com/G1andG2/report1_eng.htm#conv">http://kazutoku.cside21.com/G1andG2/report1_eng.htm#conv</a></p> <p><a href="http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/index.php">http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/index.php</a></p> <p><a href="http://www.lensmateonline.com/">http://www.lensmateonline.com/</a></p>
joshroot
At some point in the very near future, an article with my thoughts about the tiffen megaplus lenses will be put up on photo.net. We're just waiting on Brian to format it correctly and post it. The lenses were tested on a G2.
andrei_lau1
I had tried Raynox and it was terrible, highly distorted, a lot of CA. Finally I settle down on a Canon WC-DC58N which is much more superior. The only complaint is that it is big and relatively heavy, and its len cap is very loose and the front element like finger print! Nevertheless, the lens works well on G2. Lensmate seems having favourable feedbacks from many reviews, but I haven't tried it.
