Hi all

How do you transport the neg's of polaroid (55PN in my case) astera

shot on location? I put them all in a small plastic tupperware

basket, filled with water. However when I drive and turn etc, the

neg's move and damage each other. How can I solve this, any clever

solutions?

A solution that I have read about but never used is to cut paper towel into 4x5 sheets. Then, interleave the paper towel between the negatives. Because everything is in water, the paper towel becomes soft and provides a cushion to prevent the negatives from rubbing against each other.

Hi Reinier,

I picked up a 4x5 processing tank, ( a Yankee clone ) which holds a dozen sheets in individual positions. It has a 6 in by 6 in footprint and is about 7 inches high. I fill it with sulphite solution and store negs there. When traveling, I seal the tank with tape. The tank hold about a half gallon of chemistry. I picked up the tank at a photo swap meet for $3.00. Clever enough for you?

Reinier,

I, too, have found that tupperware boxes work. I cut out foam pads (for dishwashing), lay them down and make a bed. Then I use paper towels cut to size in between the negs, with just enough sodium sulfite to keep things really really wet.

Finally, more foam pads on top of the uppermost neg layer, also softened with the solution. The foam pads when wet get heavy and keep both the negs and the solution from sloshing around. Hope this helps.
