Hell's Half Acre Wyoming as a photo site

We're headed west in about 3 weeks to further explore the Rocky

Mountain area of the western US. Our route will take us through Iowa

(thanks for previous postings on photo ops there) and South Dakota.

Does anyone have any experience with Hell's Half Acre in Wyoming as a

photographic site?

Thanks in advance for any comments.

i live about 40-minutes from hells half acre. I would suggest obtaining permission to transverse the canyon, it's not terribly spectacular from the roadside, well, it is, but i doubt that it would make a good photograph.

But inside I think it would be a great opertunity for desert photography. It is a very strange place.

Bob, that's a great location. You may need a few days to get really good shots, once you see how the light goes at different times of day. (Despite the name, the site is actually more than 300 acres.) If you can't spare a few days on this trip, then at least give yourself a few hours on one day in the morning or evening to get good light.

It's been a very long time since I've been there, but you might get more current info from http://wyoparks.state.wy.us/index1.htm and permit info from http://wyospcr.state.wy.us/
