bradley_smith
Hi, Has anyone used either of these lenses? Are they any good? Having difficulty finding reviews on the 'net. Any and all help appreciated. Brad
gregory_nicholson
Sigma makes good wide angle lenses, try here for a little background. http://medfmt.8k.com/third/cult.html#sigma I'd image the reason you're looking at these lenses is because they're cheap, rather than looking for a lens that's going to noticably better. I have a Sigma 21-35 f/3.5-4.2 zoom that I really like but have never used Canons 20-35f3.5L or 24-35f3.5L.
bradley_smith
Correct!I can pick up the 28mm for 29.99 GBP or the 24mm for 49.99 GBP - both in as new condition.I was wondering if either of these represented good value for money when teamed up with my T90? gregory_nicholson
If you don't already have those focal lengths, well, then yes you need them. I see no reason not to get them. They will be good lenses, based on Sigma's reputation, and will meter/couple fine on the T90. Some people don't like Sigma, there used to be a site that did nothing but bash Sigma lenses. It was something like SigMa.com or SIGnificant MAlfunctuion. A lot of this was based on Sigma's AF lenses having an occurance of burning up the eletronics in an EOS camera. I guess that would fire me up too, especially if the camera was three times the money of the lens. You can also try www.photodo.com, if they have these two lenses you can compare their MTF numbers with other high end lenses from Canon, Nikon, Leica etc. You'll probably get a listing for the AF version but the optics most likely will be similar in the manula focus version. The only down side is they will have very little trade in value in the future.
stephen hazelton
I've had a Sigma manual focus 24mm f/2.8 in Pentax K mount for about 10 years. I'd rate it "very good" optically, perhaps "so-so" on durability. Realistically, it has been knocked around in a backpack a good bit, too, but it is showing it's age cosmetically. The depth-of-field scale is pretty well gone. It came with a custom lens hood that broke about 5 years ago. It is now getting a little stiff to turn, but I expect to get several more years out of it. I paid about $85 for it way back when.
laheist
I had a sig 28mm, it was durable, but it vingnetted the corners, so it's value was limited.
