rob_klugman
I'm trying to gain more experiance with portrature and am having a tough time trying to find willing models. While friends are willing to pose, I find it difficult and am really looking for people that want to pose. Any suggestions on where I could find willing models. Also, this would be non-paying, strictly tfp.

jim h1664876971
> Also, this would be non-paying, strictly tfp.< Non paying?? that makes it pretty tough to find people. I was going to suggest you post some ads up on the bulletin boards of any local art schools or universitys. But you pretty much need to pay some nominal fees to get people out. Maybe you could offer to trade modeling services with other photography students?
neil_lupin
you could also offer an agreed number, size and quality of shots if they want a portfolio or CDR of certain quality. Depends what type of model you wnat - if you're entering the glamour world talk to a lawyer first and get a simple no nonsense contract set up that both parties can easily understand and sign - none of this complicated rubbish but a 'plain speak' type of document - you need to protect yourself as do they. Also suggest they bring a chapirone with them first time and preferably some proof ID. Call me paranoid, but if its glamour where you're headed, I'd do all this. Spearhead
Non paying?? that makes it pretty tough to find people.
Not at all. I only do TFP and get lots of people, maybe more than if I offered money.

Esperanza, TFP, Copyright 2003 Jeff Spirer
Music and Portraits Blog: Life in Portugal

robert_byrd1
If you don't pay them, they are unlikely to show up. If you pay them, they are still unlikely to show up, but your chances are better.

kevin_riggs
I've found several models that are willing to work TFP in my surrounding area by joining OneModelPlace (http://www.onemodelplace.com/). It costs anywhere from $5/month to 25 or 30/month but if you're really getting into the business, this is a reasonable price to prove to models you aren't just some person trying to see up their skirts for free. You have to give contact information (valid e-mail address if nothing else) and a valid method of paying OMP. Models are still liable to call and cancel that the last minute whether you are paying or not (at least that's my experience) but I've had a more consistent set of models from OMP than from any other method (especially posting requests at the local colleges). larry_kincaid1
When you say "model" do you mean "beautful, sensuous model"? If not, then why not place a short ad in your local newspaper offering "free" portrait photography for anyone who is interested, then book the ones you want or can fit in. You pay all costs for materials and labor, and keep the negatives. They pay for any photographs they want to order, and (perhaps) if they do order then they pay for all of the original materials that required you to get the ones they liked. Great offer for someone who does not want to pay for an experienced professional photographer. You get models and valuable experience, and you build up your own portfolio to show new clients. Next thing you know you'll be crawling in beautiful, sensuous models who want their pictures taken "your way."
