Respect for the 50mm 1.4

Robert,

Thanks for the post. I wholeheartedly agree - the 50/F1.4 AIS is BY FAR the best lens I have. It is sharper than my 85 or 35 1.4s, and practically stays on my FM3A all the time.

Also, VERY nice shot. And technically it is a great shot as well!!

YOU ARE SOOOOOO LAME, CAN WE BET YOU DIDNT SHOOT IT AT F1.4, BUT MORE LIKE F8, WHICH DEFEATS THE PURPOSE OF A FAST LENS!! SURE I HAVE A 1.2 AND IF I SHOOT IT AT F22.....WELL DUH LOW AND BEHOLD SHARP. NEXT TIME YOU USE PORNO SHOTS TO PROVE A IS LENS SHARP, PLEASE TELL US THE APERTURE YOU SHOT AT WANKER BOY!

(NO OFFENSE IMPLIED,ONLY DISBELIEF)

OK REALLY, NOW SHOOT IT WITH A 50MM f2 WHICH IS CHEAPER...BETTER IMAGAGE QUALITY, YES WE ALL THINK SO......

SORRY, I ONLY REPAIR NIKONS FOR A LIVING!

PS= AI OR NON AI HAS AS MUCH TO DO WITH PICTURE QUALITY AS THE TYPE OF STRAP USED!!! IM GONNA BLOW A GASKET!!!!!!

(dont take my aditude as a sign of ignorance plzzz)<div>00548U-12637284.jpg.d0f3040268da22dd31a4c0d941c5c256.jpg</div>

Of course, he's right. If you own one, why did you buy it?. . . .

for the extra couple of stops so you could either shoot in low light

with a decent shutter speed and still maybe have a few film choices,

and/or you like to isolate your subjects with a shallow DOF, inwhich

case we're talking about bokeh. The rap on this lens is bokeh, right?

Maybe someone with a 'good' 1.4 lens and this one can upload images

shot with both at 1.4 and we can all check the bokeh. Probably been

done before, though

Sorry, I was just trying an attempt at humor. I never recieve a response when I contribute an answer politely. It is rude to have someone answer your question with factual info. and then fail to thank them (which seems far too common here). So, I wanted to see if y'all were sleeping.

Ya kinda caught us off guard there, Gary. I've read some of your other posts to photo.net and never saw you write in the usenet.troll style before, so I wondered whether you were joking.

Now that we know, it *was* pretty funny...wanker boy.

Yes the nikon 1.4 is good , I have two of them, so's the minolta, canon, pentax, etc...BUT....all mfrs tell you to stop down a couple of stops from max for better picture quality, S, if you're gonna do low light,,right-on, but for normal photography, get the cheaper f2
