will_woodford1
Hi there - Has anyone else read the most recent edition of Chasseur d'Images? (At least I think it's the most recent; if not it's the one that has a feature on photographing birds.) It mentions and shows a picture of a digital rangefinder camera called the Nikon Coolpix Pro One. The text mentions short shutter lag, 5.2MP and a couple other things, and is accompanied by a picture of this camera and two lenses. I don't recall any details about release dates, etc. Does anybody out there know more about this?
chip l.
Could you provide the link? Sounds like the April Fool's joke they played by in 2001 http://www.steves-digicams.com/images4/coolpix_one_pro.jpg

derek_stanton2
Why does this thing have a keypad and antenna? Is it also a cellphone? Could you 'beam' images back to your computer/family/office? Gee, what a swell idea....
chip l.
Remember folks this is a joke from 2001
richard_ilomaki
April fool I bet. Is says the thing will be available on April 1 for 7000+ French Francs, which have been out of circulation for over a year. Look like a clever compilation of image fragments from various Nikon brochures. I would love to be wrong, but..?
lduchamp
It's actually a 2 years old joke that was issued in the same magazine for april fool. They are using this as a "what would you like in the next generation of digital camera?" illustration.
will_woodford1
Thanks for clearing this up! I didn't know what they meant when they said something about the "famous April 1st", not having seen anything about that. It's a shame that this is a joke!
