I will be in LA traveling from NY and will need to get my film home.

What is the safest way for me to get 100 speed film back to NY

without it getting fogged? I am will to ship it, but who should I

use?

<p>You can just carry it with you. Airport carry-on X-ray machines will not fog your film. But do NOT put the film in checked baggage.

If the speeds are not in excess of 1600 iso, I suggest you carry it on the plane. Other than that, I can vouch for having no problems mailing film. I've mailed rolls of HIE and EIR (Infrared Films) without problem through 1st class mail and priority mail. If you need to be safer when shipping, spend a little extra and upgrade to Fedex or UPS. This is only recommended, however, if you're shipping a bunch of stuff, because the base price is kind of expensive in comparison to USPS.

I travel through airports with 25-100 speed film in my carry on bags 2 weeks out of every month. Never had a problem with the X-Rays. I put one roll in checked baggage as a test and it came out with lines etched throughout the roll from the X-Ray machine.

Shipping via us mail is also OK. If it wasn't all the mail order processing labs would be out of business. I send my color films to a mail order lab all the time by the post office with no problems.
