d_l1
$445 is too high. $350~$400 is fair.
mitchell_turoff
I've had this lens for a number of years and it has been a real workhorse, absolutely great for night football and soccer, and indoor sporting events where flash is not allowed. If you are using a Maxxum 7 (and maybe Maxxum 9), however, you need to send the lens to Sigma for updating. Check with Sigma to be sure they can still update the lens. They did mine for free. tak_ming_leung
The Sigma APO AF 70-210/2.8 is a fine quality lens capable of producing top-notch results. Although I do not own this lens, I have shot many beautiful images with a (very modest) Sigma APO UC 70-210/4.5-5.6 lens. This tiny tele-zoom has SLD optics matching the high performance of its top-tier brother. It costs less than many 50/1.8 lens on the used market yet offers absolutely stunning clarity, contrast and color. Try finding one of these little gems on EBay before shelling out the cash for the "big gun"!
