mark_hahn1
I am testing a couple of Photo Printers and would like to download some High Resolution images to run on each, preferably portraits so I can check skin color etc. There are many great images in the gallery on Photo.net but most appear sized for Monitor viewing and not for the best print potential. Any advice where to go for these downloads? TIA
dan_tong
Mark, Go to the dpreview.com website and look under the galleries section. They're are digital camera samples. A lot of them are originals with very high resolution quality. They're good for priter testing purpose.
ellis_vener_photography
For some very high res samples go to the following URL: http://www.kodak.com/global/en/professional/products/cameras/dcsPro14n/sampleImages.jhtml
jackflesher
I downloaded this one (the hi-res jpeg on the right-hand side of the page -- I immediately opened it in PS and re-saved it as a tiff) and use it as my "standard" image when comparing papers of adjusting profiles -- IMO it has a good mix of skin-tones and natural colors:
http://www.inkjetart.com/custom/
Cheers,
peter nelson
I made my own. It's not hard and that way you have perfect control over the test. My image consists of a grid of grayscale squares ranging from all black (RGB=0,0,0), to all white (RGB=255,255,255) with small increments in between, all labelled. I use this to look at neutrality and metamerism issues in black and white printing. I also have black on white lines and white on black lines to test for ink spreading. I also have a series of parallel lines in different colors, one pixel apart, two pixels apart, etc, to check printer resolution. I have a horizontal and a vertical set since printer reolution often varies with the axis. It also has large blocks of different colors - red, blue, green, as well as a calibrated pink (I think it's 255,200,200, but I don't remember and I'm not home now) to look at color accuracy and saturation.
I made this about 2 years ago in PhotoShop and it probably took me an hour or so to make. It's pretty small - maybe 3x3 inches when printed, so I don't have to waste paper when testing or calibrating. It has been EXTREMELY useful.
