c._h._h.
Does anyone know how to stop the camera body from slipping and pointing downward on the tripod head when the head is placed in a vertical position for lengthwise shots? It seems that the weight of my 75-300mm lens is to much for the body to hold without slipping on the head. Is there some kind of accessory that I can buy that prevents this from happening, or is there a home remedy that I can use such as some kind of tape? Thanks, CHH
pok_hon_wally_yu
Seriously, you need a better tripod head.
yogi_logy
You did indicate on an earlier post that you were concerned with overtightening. In that case, the standard solution is to get a tripod head with a lip sticking out of the mounting surface. You then butt the back side of the camera against the lip to prevent rotation. As an example, many Bogen tripod heads have been incorporated with a quick release plate assembly, and you can buy the quick release plate assembly with or without the lip. raymond_raymond1
suggestion 1 - cheap way tilt your lens a bit up before tightening the tripod head, and let gravity pull it down a bit after tightening. Need some trial and error, and different effect for different lens Suggestion 2 - costly way Buy a new tripod head

joo_chung
I don't have the 75-300 but I'm assuming it doesn't have a tripod collar? If it does, then use a tripod collar. If it doesn't then the suggestion of a QR plate with the lip is good. Joo
