FM2 MD12 troubles

I am having troubles with my MD12 not responding when attached to my

FM2. I have the impression that the problem lies within the FM2

because when I cross the contacts on the MD12 when it's not attached

to the camera it appears to trigger and wind just fine. I actually

have 2 FM2s and MD12s and I have the same problem with both bodies

and drives. I have used FM2s for many years and this is not the

first time I have had this problem. Does anyone out there know the

likely cause of this? I once had a repairman mention to me that the

problem lies in a diode within the FM2 that has a tendency to fail.

Any suggestions on how to solve this would be much appreciated.

I had this problem frequently; unfortunately the MD12 is the most unreliable piece of junk I have ever used. Normally, if I pull the camera´s lever (like in ordinary use, to activate the metering and all), the whole system starts to work and the MD transports one picture. Good luck!
