dick roadnight cotswolds
Zeiss Ikon Stuttgart 6x6 cm 120 folder. Interlock to prevent double exposure. Novar-Anastigmat Lens Velio Shutter 1/10 to 1/250 Apeture f4.5 to f22. Helical focusing with depth of field scale flash sync socket Flash bracket It all seems to work. Some paint missing on the outside, no sign of wear on the inside - even on the pressure plate. Could someone tell me how old it is, how good the lens is, and is it worth putting a roll of film through it? It cost me £15.
patric_dahl_n
The Novar is an ok lens, not the best though. A three element design, not made by Zeiss. Stop down to 11 and it's a nice little camera. I believe It's made in the 1950's since it has a flash sync.
jerry_lehrer
Dick Worth about $30-$50. Definatly worth putting film thru it. Jerry
todd frederick
They are very nice cameras and can produce good sharp images with excellent contrast, but, as mentioned, they work best at small apertures. Check to be sure there are no light leaks in the bellows. Your model is probably a 518 with double exposure prevention, but you can make double exposures if you use the cable release socket on the right side of the lens...which is sometimes closed off with a silver screw. Remove the screw and you have a cable release socket.
todd frederick
<img src="http://www.photo.net/photodb/image-display?photo_id=906067&size=lg"> This photo was taken with a Zeiss Nettar and Novar lens on Tri-X film. It was a sharpness test when I first got it, so I looked for something with a lot of tiny detail.
tito sobrinho
Patric: To my knowledge, the 3 elements Novar, Triotar and Nettar were all manufactured by Zeiss. The only one that was not, was the Frontar (Goerz) that fitted the Box Tengor.
dick roadnight cotswolds
Thank you all for the information - it is unseasonably cold here, and I am trying to fight off influensa, so I will not get out with it yet. Dick
