wook_kim
This is a question to whom are using Nikon D100 and lens faster than f/2.0 such as AF50mm f/1.4D. Please try the following combination. Set at M mode, Set apperture at 1.4, 1.8, or 2.0,Set shutter speed at 30 seconds. Please measure the actual shutter speed. Mine is closing the shutter after only 15 seconds. What about yours?
berg_na
In Manual mode, the lens aperture and the shutter speed settings are completely independent of each other, i.e., it doesn't matter what the lens aperture is set at, and if the shutter is set at 30s, it will stay open for 30s. I've tested my camera at 30s and longer without any problems. I can't think of any reasons why your camera acts as you described.
wook_kim
Dear Berg Na, Did you really check it using D100 with lens faster than f/2.0? If you set apperture f/2.8 or greater, this kind of phenomenon does not happen. I know what M mode means and I know shutter speed setting and aperture setting are independent to each other. But here in Korea, when I reported this phenomenon on a website, almost everyone who tested the same combination got the same result. Shutter is closed only after 15seconds.
