michael_gilbert1
I would like to have a sofwtare program that allows me to move thumbnails around and then save them to a slideshow in that order. In other words, I want to do digitally what I used to do with 35mm slides and a lightbox. Any siggestions? I can be emailed at photo@gilbert1.net. papazone
Take a look at Flip Alum 5 from ebook systems. It is a peice of software that does exactly what you are looking for. You can take a folder full of images and import them to a flip book. The first pages are the thumbnails and then there is an index of the names of the files and following that are the images one to a page in flip album. there is a "slide show" on the tool bar which allows you to show the book as a slide show complete with transitions. The thumb nails in the front of the book can be arranged in drag and drop fashhion... just like on a light box. You can download a trial copy at www.flipalbum5.com
mendel_leisk
ACDSee should meet your requirements: - It can display images as thumbnails, in an explorer type environment - You are able to click and drag the images, creating a custom order. - It has slide show capability, either basic or with a variety of dissolve effects. Bob Peebles
Try Irfanview. It is free for individuals and cheap for businesses. It works and can be found at www.irfanview.com. At least it doesn't cost anything to try it.

d_h6
I tried many many slide show softwares, but I prefer proshow gold from photodex.com. It is new and is a great software. It will do what you mentioned. It can create slideshow in VCD, SVCD that can be played in stand alone DVD players as well as auto run CD that can be played on PC. Or you can create 1 CD that works in both. It has cool transition effects. If you also need to create slideshow in HTML for the web, check out xatashow from xat.com. It's cool. michael_gilbert1
Thanks for all the advice. I've tried Irfanview, ACDsee, and Ulead Photoimpact. In each case they permit me to organize files in the order I want them. But none, to the best of my knowedge, permits renaming in that order. That would allow me to use that sequence for all sorts of things. I'll look at the others I haven't tried and see if any work. Thanks, Michael
