220 In My Brownie....but one question....

Recommended Posts

I managed to load 220 film into my brownie camara with a little bit

of strain and a pair of scissors to thin out the plastic spool. But

my question to you is- Since there are no numbers on the film (being

that i learned the hard way that 220 film has no "back" or paper)

How do I know how many turns it takes to advance to the next

picture???

I guess it's a bit daft, but I'm just a lil new to using my

Brownie :)

Thanks in advance for your help...

Lauren

Sorry, you can't use 220 film in your Brownie (without a lot of guesswork). Hopefully you blanked off the little red window before you started, else you've already ruined any exposures you've tried to make. 220 film is designed for cameras WITHOUT the red window, but with an internal mechanism for measuring the film as it travels through the camera. To use it in your camera you'd need first to ascertain approximately how many turns of the knob it takes to advance the film from one frame to the next with ordinary 120 film, then apply this information with the 220 film loaded. Note that the number of turns will vary from the start of the film to the end of the film, as the take-up spool fills up, also that you will have no frame counter to know either when the film is correctly loaded in the first place, (though this could be done in the darkroom), or when the film is finished.

Good luck.
