N90s W/MF-26 auto fire malfunction?

I have not used my N90s for about a year. When I finally got around

to using it the batteries in the attached MF-26 were dead. I

replaced the batteries and went on to set city, time, etc. After I

had configured it everything seemed okay. I was setting up some

bracketing settings and the camera started to fire the shutter

automatically, I was puzzled. Seems that every time I push any

button on the MF-26 the N90s would fire the shutter.

I held in the button "mode" for example it continues to fire shot

after shot, until I stop pressing the button. I checked to make sure

I was not holding down the shutter release while handling the camera,

and it still happens. I removed all the batteries from the N90s and

the MF-26, in an effort to "reset" what ever happened, the problem

still persists.

Any one seen this, and/or have any recommendations for a fix?

You might try a Q-tip (cotton swab) and some (very little) alcohol to clean the contacts. A little rubbing with a pencil eraser might do the job, but take care not to drop stuff into the camera back.

The non-use of your camera may have allowed some residue to coat the contact surfaces.
