kurt_barker
I'm building a plexiglass container/box for a hockey/goalie cam (remote control, of course). I notice that to put the camera at the bottom center of the net, I need a lense slightly wider than my 18mm. Does anybody have a recommendation? Fisheye vs. ret~~~~ur? 17mm? 16mm? When I shoot other pictures in this environment, I shoot 1/250th, f2.8, and 1600 ISO. I'm assuming I'll need at least an f2.8 lens. I'm wonderering if I should use a manual focus lense? I'm wondering if I'll be satisfied with a fast lens wide open (necessary for proper exposure, but what will the depth of field be?) Thanks for your help. ktb
todd peach seattle, washi
My first guess would be the 16mm f/2.8 full-frame fisheye would work well; reasonable quality wide open. It's quite a bit wider than an 18mm Rectalinear, so maybe wider than you need. If you put it in a plexiglass box, you will definitely get some odd vignetting / artifacts in the corners. You'd almost need a 'dome port' to do it without vignetting.
erick_lamontagne
I found this by doing a search
kelly_flanigan1
The exposure at our hockey rink is about 1/250 @F4 with asa 400 film between the bluelines . Between the bluelines and the goal crease; the exposure is about 1/250 @F2.8 with asa 400. We are lucky they added an extra set of lights several years ago for an Exibition games. During public ice skating sessions; and adult league games; on the original set of lights is on; and one extra stop is required.

The 15mm Heliar in Leica screw mount is a cool lens; mabe you could use a Leica screw mount to Nikon F adapter. The lens has two ears than may shadow the film edges; if the phase angle of the adapter is incorrect; and the lens is rotated a tad.

Th puck may reach 100 MPH; I cannot hit it that fast yet :) ! I have a Wonder Puck in my House to practice shooting pucks; the puck can destroy a camera with high speed. Getting hit on the leg below the pads yielded a nice 3" diameter red welt last year. For shooting while playing in the adult league; I like my Leica Clone brick; the motorized Lennigrad with one of my cheap Jupiter-8 lenses. The BIG wind knob works with gloves; all I have to do is focus an press the big shutter knob.
craig_bridge
Consider a retro design 14mm rectilinear lens such as the Tamron 14mm f/2.8 in addition to a fisheye.
