edsel_adams
When I attach my Tc14b to my 300mm f4.5 lens what is my effective maximum f stop? How much does a 1.4 converter lose 1.4 stops?Next my ancient F2 with prism body has a square eye cup.How does this detach from the prism?Im afraid to force it either way without knowing. Thanks in advance. vedearduff
Edsel, You lose one stop with a 1.4x converter and two stops with 2x converter. I have no idea about the finder on your F2 I hope this helps. Vernon
david_h._hartman
Your new maximum aperture for your 300/4.5 and TC-14B is f/6.4; your new focal length is 420mm. The eye cup just unscrews like a filter. You need some type of eyepiece on the finder to keep dust out. The eye cup can also be gently "pealed" off as I recall leaving the metal ring and glass protector. It may be better to peal the eyecup off after unscrewing the unit from the finder. I haven't use one for years. I use the eyepiece with a rubber donut for an F3 (not high eye point) on my F2As. This protects my glasses and I have no problems seeing the entire screen. Hope this helps,
