jim_fenton
I have access to a canon 224T flash. Can this flash be used on a Nikon FM10 or do I have to purchase a special one for the camera. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Jim
john lehman, college alask
The FM-10 does not have any flash automation, just a hotshoe, so any flash which can operate on manual or non-off-the-film automatic will work. It works with trigger voltages of 200 volts or less - possibly greater but best not to experiment :-)
craig_bridge
Not sure if the metal base of the FM10 hot shoe will short out any of the extra flash control pins and cause the Canon flash not to work properly. Try it and see (but turn the flash off before attaching/detaching it to the hot shoe). If there is a problem, you can get around it with an SC-17 cord (expensive), or a PC cord and mount the flash off camera, or cut a piece of film the size of the hot shoe and punch a hole in it to let only the center pin make contact and slip it between the hotshoe and the flash.
