Nikkor 50mm F1.2 AI

I recently bought one of these and have been pleased with the

results, very sharp at all apertures and very nice out of focus at

wider apertures. I have been looking for information on this lens

but all the usual sources dont seem to give it a mention. Anyone know

of a review or some history of the lens ?

There is alot of info scattered over the internet, try seach options. A discussion about the 1.2 Nikkors a few months ago was pretty interesting. I have the older 55/1.2 myself, stopped down a bit it works great at medium distances. Still it is a special purpose lens and preformance is highly subjective with these lenses IMO.

A while back I posted a question on photo.net about the difference between the 1.4 AI and the 1.2 AI. The responses I received led me to shy away from the 1.2. I just purchased a 1.4 a couple of weeks ago and have only shot about 1 roll total with it (in low light). Played with Ilford XP2S exposed at 800 and developed at 400. Very happy with the results.
