phil_mckenzie
Folks, With both my zooms, Tokina ATX-II 28-70 and Nikor 70-300, the camera trips up and gives me two flat lines on the exposure read out when the lenses are at the focal length minimum. If I bump the zoom slightly off the minimum the camera does just fine and gives me an exposure setting. I have the aperature ring locked in the correct position on both lenses. Others have this problem? Any ideas solutions? Thank you in advance, Phil
craig_bridge
Take a close look at the minimum aperture tab on the lens and the pin it depresses on the camera. Sounds like this something is off a bit and the body isn't sensing the tab.
jim_gifford
...but he said the problem occurs when the **focal length** was at the minimum, so I don't see how that could be related to the aperture indexing connection between lens and body. Puzzling. I'd suspect a software hiccup. Try resetting the camera's little electronic brain by turning it on, withdrawing the batteries and letting it run out of juice after 20 minutes or so. Then turn it off, reinsert the batteries and turn it on. This is the Nikon equivalent of the "reboot" that computer help desks always put you through. Thanks for sharing that.
phil_mckenzie
The problem only occurs when the lenses are zoomed all the way "out". 28mm and 70 mm respectively, it does not take much of twist for it to correct. I will try the "reboot" and post. Phil
