Leica "R" Lens on Nikon Bellows?

Recommended Posts

I would like to use a Leitz 100mm f/4 Macro-Elmar on a Nikon PB-4

bellows (the Leica lens is an "R" series). Can anyone recommend a

source for an adapter, or combination of adapters, that would

facilitate this application? I do not want to permanently alter the

bellows because I want to continue to use my Nikkor lenses, as well.

Thank you!

Hi Douglas,

Well, you probably know about this already. But, just in case you don't, check out this link to Stephen Gandy's site. I'd email him with the question.

It sounds like something that should be doable - but only if the adapter already exists. Let us know if you come up with anything.

According to the info on this page: http://www.a1.nl/phomepag/markerink/mounts.htm, the lens mount registration for the Leica R mount is only 0.5mm more than the Nikon.I'd be suprised if there was a lensless adapter between the two, since most people would want infinity focus.

One suggestion, if you can't find one is to piece one together. A start would be a BR-2A reversing ring, which would get you from the bellows to a 52mm filter thread. A Leica equivalent to the BR-3(intended to put a 52mm filter on a reversed Nikon lens)is what you would need to complete it.

I wouldn't, I meant that if Doug is trying to find a commercial Leica R- Nikon adapter, it would most likely have a negative lens in to allow infinity focus of the lens on the Nikon body, since most photography is not macro. That is not what he would need, and why put some cheap lens after a Leica macro lens? I'd expect a mechanical, non-infinity focus adapter would be a very small market, maybe not more than 1 ;)
