"Dream Cruise" images, as promised

Leica shooter Jose' Gamboa made it up to Detroit and we

hooked up both Friday and today. We went off to the "Dream

Cruise" to shoot cars and car people. He used a M6 with a

24/2,8 ASPH and a 75/1.4. shooting Delta 400. I shot a Contax

N Digital, so I could post pix of him with his Leica right away ( I

did ask forum members if it was okay to post digital shots).

Sorry, no Duseys or Studebakers were to be found where we

were. Mostly Hot Rods, classic '50s and '60s restorations and a

touch of class with some Rolls Royces. Lots of classic sports

cars. Woodward Ave. was bumper to bumper for 15 miles,

crammed with old cars that looked factory fresh. What a sight,

especially for a visitor from Lima.<div>003dXY-9160584.jpg.f4610f8d433b961b528417a499ae0d2b.jpg</div>

I was there today--twice...shooting the first time with M7+15 Heliar and later with the Tri-Elmar, all on TCN400. I had wanted to bring my Leicaflex SL (after all, classic cars should be shot with a classic camera, right?)but as I was packing, the red plastic lens release tab finally broke off after 34 years :>( I thought then about bringing a Nikon FTn but I was planning on hooking up with Marc and decided to take a Leica...didn't want to subject my M4 to airplane vibration if I didn't have to, decided the R6.2 and lenses would be too bulky as I was carrying-on all my belongings (a bad decision as security pawed through my entire carryon). So the M7 it was. I did see a pair of photojournalists with pro video and Nikon digital SLR interviewing some guy, and one of the PJ's had a black N6 on him; another guy I saw was using an R8 with what looked to be a current 19/2.8. I admit I have never seen two other Leicas at once anywhere else I've been in years, outside of a camera store.

>>Nice Rolls ! Glad you had fun and lets hope for a Dusenberg next year !<<

There were a couple of 30's V16 Caddys, a V12 Packard Phaeton, and a gorgeous dark red V12 Pierce-Arrow...I stood in line behind a guy with a Hassy on a tripod, waiting my turn to shoot the hood ornament. The Tri-Elmar @ 50mm isn't exactly a close-up lens, so I'm going to see how good the lens holds up to major enlargement ;>)
