hans_berkhout
I used the Viso years ago, slow but fool proof and reliable. Main problem with the long lenses(200, 400 range): the focusing mount always seemed to bind, if the lens was in the normal horizontal position. Perfectly smooth only when shooting straight up into the sky. CLA made no difference. I may get another unit again for sentimental reasons, for close-ups of my B&W prints. Masochism yes, without TTL metering! Why do it the easy way?
lutz
without TTL metering
Why is that, Hans? Why shouldn't the M6's meter work along with a Viso?
hans_berkhout
Lutz, I used it with my M3. I thought that the M6 TTL body is a little too tall to accept the slip-on Viso prism. The regular M6 is OK I think, please correct me if I`m wrong! Thanks and regards, Hans B.
frank
Hans, maybe you already know... You can't use a Viso II plus slip-on prism with a M6TTL or a M7, that's correct. But there are no restrictions with a Viso III.Best regards Frank

eliot
Lutz. The M6 and M6TTL light metering can be used with a Visoflex setup. However, the mirror has to be in the up position, and, of course, you have to look through the camera's VF rather than the Viso VF to meter. Presumably, with the M7 in AUTO, you don't have to meter as a separate operation, since the mirror with go up shortly before the shutter button is tripped, allowing enough time for metering. But I haven't tested this.
