scott_classen
I am doing research in order to purchase a lens for my recently aquired Leica If RD and have heard mention of new Leica thread mount lenses. I looked at the Leica homepage and it appears that they do not make thread mount lenses currently, but I've heard people refer to new LTM lenses that were produced by Leica in the past few years. If such beasts exsist what are they called? What are their model numbers or their sizes? Thanks.
tim_franklin
Hi Scott, The recent LTM lenses were just screw mount versions of some of the existing M mount optics. I don't recall which, but would hazard a guess at the 35/2 and 50/2.8 They would have been fairly hefty beasts for the old screw cameras though. :o) AFAIK all are now sold out
paul hart
I believe they made the 35/2 ASPH and the 50/2 in LTM. They were available on eBay until a few months ago. At present there is a 35/2 ASPH being offered together with a IIIg and Leicavit. jay_.
Recent LTM versions of current Leica lenses were 35/2ASPH, 50/2 and 50/1.4.
bobtodrick
They made a 35 Summilux and Summicron as well as a 50 Summilux and Summicron. All were available in silver only. They were originally intended for the Japanese market only but a few made their way into North America. If I recall they made 1000 of each. I bought one of the 35 Summicron Asph that has seen hundreds of roll through a mint IIIg. A very compact, tack sharp image maker.
stevierose
I would call Tamarkin in NYC. They still had some new ones in their Shutterbug ads within the last few months.
john_collier2
As far as I know Bob there was no 35/1.4A in LTM. Leica has said that they will make any of the current M lenses in a LTM mount as long as you are willing to pay for 100 of them.

michael_darnton1
You should also consider the Voigtlander LTM line, which offers some spectacular and interesting lenses, including a 15mm and a 28mm f1.9, among others.

ray_moth
I seem to remember reading somewhere that the screw-mount version of the 50mm Summilux has a minimum focus distance of 100cm, whereas the current M-mount version can focus down to 70cm.
