Update on Phil's classic articles (eg. Film)

One of the few annoying things about photo.net (along with the lack

of last-updated date information in thread displays) is that some of

the classic articles are in need of revision.

Some topics (such as lighting and composition) are timeless. Some are

not. On top of the never-static content list must be FILM.

This seems to be an opportunity for a respected volunteer or elf to

keep track of what is available; what it does; suggested

films-for-roles and links to comments regarding currently available

films in the database.

I accept that this is real work and requires someone who actually

knows what they are talking about (which rules me out :-). However

it is the sort of content that will keep people coming back and

should represent both value to the site's commercial supporters and

subscribers (if that model takes off)

An additional feature may be to add films to the ezShop section of photo.net; at least it would give people a more structured way of adding and reading comments about specific films.

Still, an updated film article (and perhaps without the *huge* list of comments) would be nice. By the above criteria, I'm ruled out as well, but I still offer my assistance as photo.net editor (i.e., I can help with the proof reading, HTML formatting and actual publishing on the server).

If Brian would like a fellow software engineer to help think about some software to support it (if ezShop isn't to be used), let me know as well.

Patrick,

I think ezshop is a great place for it. It already is a mechanism for providing a centralized database of reviews/comments for similar products.

Adding a film section would great. A user could go and view all films by say Fuji and then see what people have to say about each one.

Also, since we're talking about film, it would be ideal if we attach images so people can see how different films look.
