derek_stringer1
How should the focussing screen on a Visoflex 3 be mounted? With the ground glass on top and the shinny side facing the mirror - or the other way round? Clearly the 2-3mm thickness of the glass will affect the accuracy of the focus. With the plethera of interchangable focussing screens for reflex cameras are there any that will fit a visoflex 3 to improve the accuracy of the focussed image? john_collier2
Just like cars, shiny side up. Here is one place that sells screens for the Visoflex 2 and 3: http://www.brightscreen.com/enter.html
ned_learned
Hi Derek, The "Bright screens" work just great HOWEVER, unless you have the fingers of a watchmaker, pay them the $40.00 to install it. I didn't and had a hell of a mess.
al_kaplan1
The shiny side of the glass is on top. Leitz made a "Scientific" model of the Visoflexes II and III that had interchangeable screens mounted in slide-in frames. They turn up on Ebay from time to time. I have a II Scientific which came with just the plain ground glass screen with a black circle in the middle. I wouldn't mind getting a plain clear glass with cross hairs if one ever turns up. joe_lee3
I have bad experience installing the bright screen because unlike ordinary focusing screen, the set contains two pieces of optic. I spent an hour to get them right and I even scratch the focusing screen that made my heart pain. But it works much better than the original screen.
